Wow, way to blackmail enthusiasts, Audi.
Also, if the thing gets built, it will enter a growing segment of small MR sports cars. Like the Alfa 4C, Cayman and this Honda.

Dear Audi, don’t price your sports cars so that only a small percentage of the population can afford it.

Dear wiffleballtony, it’s an Audi, not an MR2.

Can I rephrase?
“We will build the R5 if we can figure out how to increase our inventory turns, drop our supplier costs, remove our margin overhead, and figure marketing plans that can actually communicate a value benefit. Oh, and our engineers suck less since value requires, uhm, more creative features and not just a incremental funness/form factor.”
Fixed.
Edit: Gonna riff a little here (like I didn’t, above, d’oh.) What the fuck is “if the sports car market stops shrinking?” It’s shrinking because there’s nothing that people want to freakin’ buy. That’s not a “market” problem, that’s an “offering match” problem. Good god, does anyone remember the RX7 intro, how it almost *produced* a market (a latent one, given) because it was now available? Well, Audi, you got’s the same damn problem and it isn’t R5 related.
My opinion. Which generally sucks with cars. Better with business. Great with animal husbandry.

Wow, way to blackmail enthusiasts, Audi.
That’s a very negative and cynical way of looking at it. They’re basically saying:
If you buy it, we’ll make it
If we can make money off it, we’ll make it
If the world wants it, we’ll make it
We all know people won’t buy it. Audi love it, we love it, but buyers want Audis that have a Q in them. Buyers call the shots.
